A loving wife and mother of four daughters, our Ammi Jaan dedicated her life for her family and showered upon us all her love and care. We can't begin to thank her for all her efforts and hard work that she put in to bringing us up and running her home with such love and affection.
I opened my eyes loving the gentle beautiful face of Ammi jaan, and grew up loving her food. Yes, she is the best cook in the whole world. Coming from a Lakhnawi family, she inherits the talent of delicious cooking from her mother, our Grandmother.
From simple Daal chawal, Shami Kebab or Sabzi to Karhi, Haleem, Biryani, Nihari or any food... I haven't eaten a single dish made by her and not love it! LOVE IT! From Pakistani to Continental, from Mexican to Arabian she masters every aspect of culinary world which results in the tastiest and most delicious cuisines in the whole universe.
I loved her curious nature and quick learning in the field of food. She learned throughout her life from people of different backgrounds like Egypt, India, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Jordan etc. She adopted the best skills and techniques from all over the world and brought them to her kitchen. I saw her using best of the cooking books from around the world in a time no one would have thought of trying to cook something different or would even know the concept of a cook book.
She produced beautiful cakes and cuisines like Julia Childs or Martha Stewart when people were not even aware of the scope of the culinary world or a good recipe. Most of all, she learnt (and implemented) all her knowledge without a Google.inc.
Naturally everyone love the food made by their mothers, but it takes a real cook and chef to realize and accept a good dish made by another cook. Only by tasting the food made by our Ammi can you appreciate what a World class cook our Ammi is. You can take my word for it because she made us into fine cooks too. :-)
